God is stripping away from us any confidence in our human ability and strength in order to create in us an intense drive to appropriate His attributes. He wants our only lifeline to be our hope in Him.

There Is No Kingdom Without Fig Trees
Within the heart of God is a drive that His Kingdom minister to each of us on a personal level. “And each of them will sit under his fig tree with no one to make them afraid, for the mouth of the Lord of Hosts has spoken” (Micah 4:4). The thorough work that God is doing in humbling us is so that we will never forget it is by His might and His strength that we live. Once these days of humbling are completed, they are never to be lived again.
