For some reason, the Israelites let their relationship with Joseph disintegrate, and Egypt became a place of bondage and oppression to them. Each day of the feast required less sacrifices than the day before, for each day their need of purifying diminished. By the day of rejoicing they were ready to press into new levels of service. We are rejoicing in what He has done in us, but we weep before Him that we might rejoice even more. This feast our tears are the meat sandwich between the layers of bread of rejoicing.
