The power and testimony of the early Church will be restored, not because we try to agree on doctrines and creeds, but because we fulfill Christ’s great commandment: to love one another (John 13:34). This prophetic message was brought to a gathering of Catholic bishops, priests, and congregants together with Protestant ministers and pastors from several denominations in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, at a conference titled “The Convergence of Christians,” which promotes oneness.
Building on the foundation of a prophetic word by John Robert Stevens spoken in 1958 and the changes prescribed by Vatican II in 1964, this message focuses on the coming together of the Body of Christ. Using Ezekiel’s vision from chapter 37 as a picture of Christ’s Body today, we recognize that-having lost our love one for another-the Church has disintegrated into a valley of dry bones. As God commanded Ezekiel to prophesy over the dry bones, He is today commanding those who embrace the diversity and oneness of the Body of Christ to prophesy the coming together of the Body in love. This booklet, titled “A Call to Oneness,” is a guide for how believers are to move together into this new day.
