God wants His people to progress onward in their relationship with Him and to not be anchored or tied down in an old way of relating to Him. God wants people to be pilgrims in their spirit. He does not want them to seek a fixed abode for themselves, but rather to move on with Him when He moves.
The Cross And His Grace
