Atonement — Confession And Sanctification
This Word prepares us to enter into the Day of Atonement. In these Ten Days of Repentance, we are reaching for the reality of sanctification and to see the Lord reveal to us the root of our transgression. In the full experience of sanctification, there is not only forgiveness of sin, but the nature that caused that sin is removed. Saul could not find repentance because he refused to discern his sin. The dangerous state of deception that Saul lived in is a warning for us in these days. If we are able to discern our sin and confess it, then He will forgive us. If we confess our sins, He is faithful and righteous to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness (I John 1:9). In this time of repentance, we are looking for an outpouring of the Holy Spirit, the Spirit of truth. We start the process of our complete sanctification by refusing to deceive ourselves and by being open to His voice about what it is we need to confess. With this Word, we reach for the greatest Yom Kippur we have ever experienced.
