Except for the crucifixion of Christ Jesus, the gift of the Holy Spirit on the day of Pentecost was probably the most significant step that ever happened in all of God’s great plan of redemption. Fifty days after the sacrificial provision of God came the first manifestation to the whole world of the reality of what Christ had really accomplished on the cross. It had been the price of provision like the world had never seen for God to infiltrate into the lives and natures of men and for them to penetrate into the life of God, and for that oneness to come with God and His people.
