We Must Foster And Nurture The Holy Spirit’s Presence
There are two Scriptures that should give all of us a drive for oneness. First, if there is any prayer that the Father will answer, it’s the prayer of His Son: “that they may all be one; even as You, Father, are in Me and I in You” (John 17:21-23). Our impact on a world that needs to know God is dependent in many ways on our oneness. Our perfection and our growth is likewise dependent on our oneness. We have gifts and anointings that we need to receive from each other. Secondly, the apostle Paul implores us to walk in a manner worthy of the calling with which you have been called. . .and to be diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit (Ephesians 4:1-3). As we walk together in the diversities of gifts and ministries that the Holy Spirit has given us, we must be driven and diligent to preserve the unity of the Spirit. As long as we are divided, none of us are right. Who has the truth? Jesus Christ is the truth and the Holy Spirit brings oneness. If we remain in oneness, in the unity of the Spirit, then the Holy Spirit Himself will teach us and train us and bring us into the unity of the faith. God has made us temples of the Holy Spirit (I Corinthians 3:16). By our actions and our relationships to each other, we either woo the Spirit to continue living within us, or we grieve Him until His Presence departs (Isaiah 63:10). We must be leaders who live in a way that fosters and nurtures the continued presence of the Holy Spirit–in our lives, in our churches, and in the people we lead. Father, we ask for grace to create an atmosphere for the Holy Spirit to continue dwelling in us. Wherever division still exists between Catholics, Protestants, and other believers, we ask for Your mercy. We repent of the division in our own hearts. We repent of the ideas and attitudes that divide us from one another. Father, answer the prayer of Your Son, Jesus, and make us one. This Word came during a meeting with the leadership of the Catholic charismatic movement in Brazil. The meeting began with an expression of appreciation for Pope Francis and concluded with a prophecy that what God is doing within the charismatic Catholics will have its foundation in Brazil.
