Passover Judges The Gods You Serve

Passover was all about God delivering His people to live in His Kingdom. Preceding the deliverance of the Israelites, however, judgment had to take place on all the gods of Egypt. Whether the Israelites liked it or not, because they were subject to Pharaoh, they were also subject to a pantheon of gods whom Pharaoh served. God’s judgment on these gods can be seen in each of the plagues, which were not merely judgments on natural things; rather, they were judgments on the deities behind the natural things that the Egyptians worshiped. God is still looking to deliver His people into His Kingdom. However, today we are just as subject to other spiritual deities as the children of Israel were. The only way we can live in the Kingdom is by making Christ our Lord; we cannot serve two masters. Once we are free from other gods and we are living in the Kingdom, we can, as a school of prophets, deliver all of humanity into the Kingdom. This Passover, we confess our subjection to other gods, and we ask God to finish what He started in the first Passover. Our cry is, Father, deliver us from all the other gods we serve and into Your Kingdom. This message came during Shabbat HaGadol.

God’s One Purpose

In the beginning God set up His Kingdom in the garden; Adam and Eve walked in a relationship with God as their King. God’s intent and His one purpose is to reestablish His relationship to man and His Kingdom on earth. From Exodus to Revelation, God keeps speaking about a people who are a kingdom and priests to our God (Exodus 19:5-6; Revelation 5:9-10). Colossians 1:13-14 tell us that God rescued us from the domain of darkness, and transferred us to the kingdom of His beloved Son. Jesus forgave our sin, and opened the door for us to relate to Him as Lord. Jesus is ruling, and we should be at His right hand bringing every enemy into subjection to His feet. As the school of prophets, we must weld our hearts together with God’s purpose and take dominion over all authority and power that is not in subjection to His Kingdom.

As a prophetic community, we are called to play a role in the transition from the Church Age into God’s Kingdom on earth. As we mature and the Kingdom manifests, we will see the partial pass away, but love will not pass away. God is in a process of tearing down the old. Don’t be rattled when the old begins to disappear and the childish things don’t work. It’s a sign that He is bringing the perfect, His eternal Kingdom.  As we come into a greater oneness with the Lord, we must let Him know us. The issue when Christ returns will not be the works you’ve performed, but this: Does He know you? In this relationship, He chooses not to know anything you don’t tell Him. Find a way to let Him know you, intimately. Today, by our will, we end the hiding, the fig leaf, and we let the Word be our searchlight.  Don’t hold anything back from Him. Don’t play around with this. If we can honestly take this step, we can be the prophetic community the Father is looking for — a people of truth and oneness.

This fellowship has a Word to become the family of God and a prophetic community. What does it mean to be a prophet? The prophets in the Scriptures were those who saw what the Lord was doing, spoke according to the will of God, and created changes in the earth by that prophetic Word. How do we become the prophetic community God is looking for? We need a renewing of our minds (Ephesians 4:22-24). There are concepts and paradigms in our minds that can block us from becoming and creating what the Lord wants. There is nothing more dangerous than wrong paradigms; they control our reactions to the world around us. If we are going to be prophets, we need to let the Lord wash us of our paradigms and be transformed by the renewing of our minds (Romans 12:2). As we pray in the Spirit and behold Him, He exchanges the lies with His truth and His truth sets us free.

Our bodies are a temple for the Holy Spirit, and by faith we reach in to see God’s temple cleansed. This year we rededicate ourselves to the Lord and prepare to live as a light to the world. When we dedicate ourselves to Him and give Him our free will, it allows Him to work in us for His good pleasure (Philippians 2:13). This takes our drive and our groaning to be sons, but it also requires His miracle power to cleanse and transform us. Romans 8:29 assures us of His determined will for us: “For those whom He foreknew, He also predestined to become conformed to the image of His Son.” This is a year of our dedicated walk with Him. As we freely give our wills to Him, He will freely meet us and transform us into the image of His Son.

We are called to be a community of prophets who live in two realms, but that cannot happen while our minds are conformed to this age. The transformation we seek comes through the renewing of our minds. We must come to I AM and break the barrier of time. God holds the past, the present, and the future before Him in His mind. And our faith can claim the promises of the past and the prophecies of the future for today. Jesus walked this way, and so did men of faith in the Scriptures. How can we become spiritual and move in the spirit? How can we start renewing our minds? Follow Daniel’s example: he prayed three times a day (Daniel 6:10). Schedule time during your day to pray in the Spirit. Prayer in the Spirit takes your mind out of conformity to this world and begins the process of the renewal of your mind. Praying in tongues is our first practical step to move as prophets of God and become the prophetic community that He has prophesied about.

God introduced Himself to Moses as I AM, and Hebrews 11 tells us to believe that He is and that He is a rewarder of those who seek Him. Jesus is the same yesterday, today, and forever. Our paradigm of time puts things into the past, the present, and the future. But that is not God’s reality. He is, and nothing about God or Jesus will change in the future. So there is no reason for us to wait. He is waiting for us to come into a revelation of I AM. It is time to change the way we relate to Him. Don’t put fulfillment into the future; do something different to step into I AM. Start by giving your will to the Father and letting Him work His will in you.

In Ephesians 4, Paul describes the purpose of the gift ministries that Christ gave to His church: “…For the equipping of the saints for the work of service, to the building up of the body of Christ; until we all attain to the unity of the faith, and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a mature man, to the measure of the stature which belongs to the fullness of Christ” (Ephesians 4:12-13). The fruit of the gift ministries is not to see a few individuals minister; rather, their anointing must bring a many-membered Body of Christ to a place of oneness and maturity so the Body moves in a ministry to the world. The people of the Cathedral of Praise are on the brink of changing the landscape of Christianity — a landscape that fulfills Christ’s prayer of John 17:22: The glory which You have given Me I have given to them, that they may be one, just as We are one. The first step is for you to pray for a revelation of where He has placed you in the Body. He places every member in the Body as it pleases Him (I Corinthians 12:18). When you receive that revelation, then commit with all your heart, in love and in faith, to function as a member of that Body. In that place where He sets you, you will mature and grow in His glory, and those around you become more than a church — they become your family of God.

As God’s family, we become the atmosphere of love and faith in which believers are brought into maturity and perfection — into the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ (Ephesians 4:13). Jesus was not born perfect; He learned obedience from the things that He suffered, and so shall we. The first step of maturity, and the first thing God will do with us as we become His family, is to perfect our will. But He is unable to make us do His will; we must determine to do His will. When we do that, God can create our will into His will and create our actions into His works (Philippians 2:13). As mature, perfected sons, we will bow our knees and confess with our tongue that Jesus is Lord and King.

This was a meeting with the leadership group and many congregants of the Cathedral of Praise in Austin, Texas. This congregation is in the midst of a transformation. The Lord is leading them into deeper spiritual relationships, and they are becoming the Father’s family. The purpose of church was to serve as an ark to carry people into the age of His Kingdom. The ark has landed, and now God is using family as a model and an illustration for the world to see that His Kingdom is on earth. These anointings are a sign that a congregation is being transformed into the Father’s family: worship in the spirit; the functioning of both the fathering and the mothering ministries; and the loving discipline of the spirits of the young ones. Cathedral of Praise has these anointings in its midst.

And two, those people had a family spirit. That vision changed John’s life and ministry, and from that time on he began to create prophets. Now we ask the Lord to give each of us that same vision; we want it to be our vision as well. Samson’s father asked the Angel of the Lord to visit again and give instruction on how to raise Samson. He wanted the impartation and the equipping to know how to walk out the vision. We, too, ask the Lord, “Please let the Angel of the Lord whom Thou has sent come to us again, that he may teach us what to do to bring forth Your Kingdom.”

Why We Tabernacle In The Wilderness

God brought the Israelites into the wilderness, a place where there was nothing except Him and what He would provide. For God, the wilderness was to be a time of great impartation and blessing where they would become a unique people who know Him — to such a degree that they would be able to distinguish between what is Him and not Him. For the Israelites, the wilderness experience was a difficult time during which they longed for their former life as slaves in Egypt. In God’s mind, the wilderness was meant to be a detoxification experience for them. He wanted to cleanse them, physically and spiritually, of all the effects of slavery. In order to accomplish this purification, God had to be the only influence on them, and they had to be sustained by only what He Himself would provide. As we celebrate the Feast of Tabernacles, we cry out for our own wilderness experience. As we build our sukkahs, let us willingly separate ourselves from the influences of the world. God is about to give us the clearest picture of Himself. When our wilderness experience is complete, He will have the great witness of Himself to the nations: a people who live according to His ways. This Word changes our entire approach to the concept of the wilderness and to our celebration of Tabernacles.

First, we must believe that Christ atoned for our sins at the right hand of the Father and we received forgiveness. Secondly, we must believe that the sin nature that was transferred onto us by satan was dumped into the abyss by Christ and left there. Thirdly, we are washed and we put on the robes of Christ’s righteousness. His nature is transferred to us and we are free from the nature of sin. We appropriate all these aspects of the Atonement experience at the throne of God, in the realm of spirit. We contend for the complete transformational experience of Atonement to be fulfilled, and our faith triggers this reality.

Delay Or Appointed Time?

We begin our celebration of Sukkot with a Word that transforms our thinking about the fulfillment of God’s promises. Our tendency is to think of appointed times as short periods when God moves, interspersed with times of delay. But God doesn’t see it that way. God brought the children of Israel out of bondage, through 40 years in the wilderness, and into the Promised Land. In His mind, this was all one appointed time. The Kingdom is an appointed time in which God’s presence dwells among men. It began with Christ, it is a reality now, and it will continue to be a reality. In God’s mind, it is complete. We are not reaching for an appointed time; we are living in the completed reality of His presence in His Kingdom.

The Moses Company Will Not Refuse Him

When God appeared on Mount Sinai in the wilderness, the children of Israel were afraid and withdrew. Moses was also afraid, but he chose to enter into the presence of the Lord, interceding for the children of Israel and seeking a transformative experience with the Father. Moses knew that no matter how much God was angered by the sins and failures of the people, the real issue was God’s covenant with them, and that He had sworn by His own name to fulfill it. We are expecting the Lord to appear and dwell with His people during the Feast Of Tabernacles. However, when we come to the moment of His appearing, we will experience an awe-inspiring fear. Like Moses, we cannot back off. Fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and in it, there is an opportunity for a transformation of our nature. The only mistake we could make would be to refuse Him who is speaking. We must be like Moses: choose to enter into the Father’s presence, and intercede for His people.

As we approach the Day Of Atonement, we find ourselves in a time of repentance. History and the Scriptures show us that God was angry with the children of Israel because they did not fully appropriate His provision of the Law and sacrifices. The same is true for us today. We have forgiveness through Christ, but our bodies are still dying as a consequence of sin. It angers God when we refuse the perfect provision He has made for us. However, the Scriptures also teach us that a day will come when His anger is abated, and He will put a new spirit and heart in His people so they can walk with Him. This is what we should seek as our experience on the Day Of Atonement: to be washed clean by the blood of the Lamb and to trigger the outpouring of God’s Spirit on all flesh.

In these days of repentance and preparation for the Feast Of Tabernacles, the Lord is teaching us how to respond to tragic and challenging events which cause us to ask, “Why?” The better question is: “What? What are You doing Lord?” And God’s answer to us will always be: “I am creating you in My image.” Jesus describes God in Mark 12:29, saying: “The Lord our God is One Lord.” We are predestined to be conformed to the image of God, which is One. If you mistrust God, then you refuse oneness with Him and He can no longer create you in His image. This is the same tactic that satan used against Adam and Eve in the Garden. Jesus not only died for your sins, He also died for your mistrust. In His final hour, He asked, “Why have You forsaken Me?” But His response was not mistrust; He finished with, “Into Your hands, I commit My spirit.” We appropriate Christ’s provision to bleed worship and respond to adversity with trust.

We are in a time of repentance to move into a new level with the Lord, seeking His perfect will and His presence. When the Israelites sinned in the wilderness, the Lord declared that He would still fulfill His covenant to give them the Promised Land, but His presence would not go with them. However, Moses interceded that the promise not be fulfilled unless the Lord’s presence remain. We can receive salvation, and even the Kingdom, but that is no guarantee that the Father’s presence will dwell with us. We do not want to receive the promises without His presence. We are to be a people with one drive: to be pleasing to Him. Christ made this possible, but we have to take the initiative, like Moses, to demand that the Spirit of the Father dwells with us.

Do You Find Fault With God?

Everything God is and does, even in judgment, is a manifestation of His goodness. However, we, like Job, often question what the Lord is doing in our lives, and how He decides to do it. God is looking to remove everything in our spirits that would find fault with Him and challenge His will (Job 40:1-8). We humble ourselves before the Lord. Like Job, we put our hands over our mouth, and stop voicing that which we don’t understand. Let the Lord bring us to a place of trust where we honestly trust His goodness and everything He is doing.

God promised Abraham that through his family all the families of the earth would be blessed. Family is the atmosphere that God is waiting for. It is the vessel that can retain the outpouring of the Spirit that will release the mature sons of God. We give ourselves to becoming a family, and we continue to pray and prophesy that the whole Body of Christ recognizes the importance of family.
